Martin Delany - The Myth of Race & the Reality of Racism

Audio footage of a speech given by author and activist Ewuare X. Osayande on May 10, 2012 at the Breslin Learning Center in Philadelphia, PA. This presentation was part of a city-wide series commemorating the 200th birthday of Martin Delany. This event was co-sponsored by 1199C Labor Training Fund and the Moonstone Cultural Arts Center.

In this presentation Osayande discusses the development of race as a social construct, the legal identity of white and the connection with present-day racism. He also discusses the life of Martin Delany and ties his past to our present, showing why Delany's revolutionary Blackness remains relevant for our times.
